Douglas G. Bauman,
Age 84, of Elmira, NY, rode the Eclipse to Glory on April, 8th, 2024, after losing his fight with ALS. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and family. He was predeceased by his parents, Carl F. and Josephine (Sullivan) Bauman, along with siblings, Carl Jr., Rose (Theresa), Francis, Frank, Beverly, Lena and Phyllis, in-laws, Tom and Ruth Burns, Tom Burns Jr., Carl Burns, Ed Winnie and Genevieve (Ruthie) Cooper, son-in- law, Warren Schuyler and daughter-in-law, Alice Bauman.
Douglas is survived by his wife of 67 years, Eleanor, brother, Duane, sister, Diane Baker, in-laws, Jim (Barbara) Burns, Rachel (Fran) Stethers, Elva Little, Bill (Pam) Burns, Eugene (Gloria) Burns and 7 children, sons, Douglas Jr., and Kevin, daughters, Cynthia Schuyler, Karen (Rexford) Hanville, Josephine (David) Gublo, Veronica (Thomas) Hart and Shelly. Several nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. A special thank you to Geraldine Bauman for her care and compassion during this difficult time. Doug worked at Speigel & Sons. He was an avid New York Mets fan, enjoyed and coached many sport teams in the community. He loved eagles, reading and listening to radio shows at night.
Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, April 15th, 2024, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Italian American Veterans Club, 1070 Magee St., Elmira, NY.
