Magaw, Elton V.
“Vinnie”
Age 94, of Horseheads, NY, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He was born on August 9, 1930 in Elmira, NY to the late Frederick and Dorotha Magaw. He was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie Magaw, son, Daniel Magaw and step-son-in-law, Robert Fassett. Vinnie is survived by his children, Donna Dartt, Cindy (Robert) Sterling and Scott Magaw; step-children, Linda Fassett, Laurie Van Amburg-Mott (Mark) and Raymond Van Amburg; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. Vinnie was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War and was the past commander of the American Legion Post# 154. He was also the captain of the Color Guard and Veteran’s Military Honor Squad. Vinnie was the past chairman of the Sullivan Trail Red Cross Blood Service and First Vice President of the Chemung County Rod and Game Club and he retired from Local 529 Teamsters. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, February 7th from 11 am to 1 pm at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place there at 1 pm. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery with full military honors.
