Roy Moss
Age 89, of Elmira, NY, was born on July 13, 1935, in Douglas, GA, to the late Luke and Ella Mae Moss. Roy passed away peacefully on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Bethany Village in Horseheads, NY. Roy was a devoted husband to his late wife, Edna Moss, with whom he shared over 40 years of love and partnership. Roy was known for his fun-loving spirit and knack for making people laugh. He brought joy to everyone around him. He had a passion for gardening, cherished time with his family, and found immense joy in music. Roy loved singing with his brothers and together they formed a group called, The Moss Brothers.
Roy dedicated over 35 years of service as a skilled mechanic and machinist at Kennedy Valve, earning the respect of his colleagues.
In addition to his parents and wife, Roy was preceded in death by his stepchildren, Troy Williamson and Mary Lou Williamson; his sisters, Mary Alice Simpson and Luisa Moss; and his brothers, Bill, Allen, JoeJacob, Lonnie, Jimmy, Henry, Robert, and Mack Moss.
Roy leaves behind a legacy of love and family. He is survived by his brother and best friend, Luke Moss, John Moss, Jack Moss, Gene Moss, and Conway Moss; and sisters, Dorothy Shelanskey and Beatrice Moss. He is lovingly remembered by his granddaughter, Jenice Williamson; grandsons, Rodney Perry and Jerome Scharborough; and his precious and special great-granddaughters, Alicia and Chimere Williamson. Roy was especially close to his beloved nephew, Lonnie Moss. Roy is also survived by many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Roy’s life at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 402 Sullivan St., Elmira, NY, on Friday, January 10th, at 12 PM for a memorial service.
