Espey, Mariam (Bobbi) F.
Mt Laurel, NJ age 94, passed away 9/11/2024. Originally from Elmira, she was born 5/1/1930 to Dougall and Agnes (Golata) Espey. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Dougall H Espey, and her sister Kathleen McMahon. She is survived by her sister, Margaret (Peggy) E Stowell, nieces and nephews, Ellen McLaughlin, Mary Sochacki (TJ), Ann Stowell, Susan Stowell, Patrick McMahon, Linda Robinson, Jennifer Fox (Ben), Dennis McMahon (Janice), and Terrance McMahon, cousin Dolores Jessick and other extended family members. Mariam had an accomplished career which began with her military service in the U.S. Air Force. She served from 1951 to1956 as Head Nurse and Nurse Anesthetist. After the Air Force, she continued her nursing career in Philadelphia working at Nazareth and Holy Redeemer and other hospitals until 1961. Mariam (Bobbi) then chose to change paths and began teaching in nursing programs at Temple University Hospital and others until 1970. She then decided to enter the Philadelphia School District where she cared for children as a school nurse and elementary school counselor. Mariam’s love of animals led to rescuing and rehoming dogs and cats, showing dogs and opening her own kennel and becoming an AKC judge. She rescued and rehomed dogs and cats until her passing. Her last rescue was a black feral cat she named Midnight who survives her and is now living with her niece, Mary. Mariam was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan. She watched as many games as she could up until her passing. In her younger days she would take her family to watch the Phillies play and shared her love of Philadelphia by taking her family to the Philadelphia Zoo and other historic sites. Services will be held at Woodlawn National Cemetery November 8 th , 2024 at 11:00 A.M.
