White, Mitchell E.
Age 40, of Millport, passed away on October 29, 2017 in the comfort of his own home after a courageous two year battle with cancer. Mitchell was born on October 14, 1977 in Elmira, NY. He graduated from Horseheads High School and then joined the Marine Corps and was proud to serve his country. Mitchell stayed in North Carolina and became a correctional officer for the Franklin County Department of Corrections. Mitchell obtained his Associates Degree in Healthcare Administration, becoming a CNA to start his quest until illness brought him home to be closer to his family. He loved anything to do with nature and could educate you on plants and some of their uses. He tied his own flies, fished, hunted and became a taxidermist in North Carolina. Mitchell is survived by his spiritual wife, Ashley Richardson; mother, Eileen (Durfee) and Gary McDonald; father, Thomas White; children, Kyle, Dakota and Davis White; niece, Leah White (Josh Clark); step-brothers, Kevin, Kelly and Anthony. He was predeceased by his brother, Matthew, grandmother, Charlotte Durfee, aunts, Charlene, Marlene, Arlene; uncle, Terry, grandfather, Raymond Durfee and grandparents, George and Nan White. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, November 1st from 4 to 6 p.m. at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow there at 6 p.m. Interment will take place on Thursday, November 2nd at 11 a.m. in Woodlawn National Cemetery with full military honors.
